About Us

Our Property

Picturesque… Sustainably managed… Naturally fertile… Biodiverse…

img_5510

Our farm comprises 43 hectares of picturesque, gum studded, rolling hills at Harrogate in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia.

We are constantly busy managing the property and have installed infrastructure to enable the property to be operated in an efficient, safe and productive manner. We have installed water infrastructure and new, modern cattle yards to facilitate safe and easy yarding and the working of cattle in a calm way, minimising stress on animals and ourselves.

We have established shelter belts and revegetation areas on the property to promote biodiversity and shelter the land and animals. We are working to diversify pasture species, promoting perennial grasses that are more productive and aid soil erosion reduction during summer months.

We use a technique called rotational grazing, which involves using fences to hold cattle in particular paddocks, or parts of a paddock. In the future we will further divide and fence paddocks, and install additional water infrastructure, to enable easier rotational grazing.

Our Cattle

Ethically treated… Free roaming… Calm and content… Handled with care…

our-property

Our cattle principally comprise of Poll Herefords, a breed with calm temperament and which do not grow horns, eliminating the need for dehorning.

Free to roam within paddocks and naturally graze without high density feedlot finishing and fattening. All paddocks have clean water, shade and shelter.

They are fed 100% natural pasture with supplementary hay when needed. No grain or other foodstuffs are fed.

Allowed to grow naturally without the use of Hormone Growth Promotants (HGP) and antibiotics.

Handled and transported with care. Electric cattle prods are never used.

Our Beef

100% pasture fed and finished… Hormone and antibiotic free… Seasonally produced… Exceptional quality…

yearling beef adelaide hills

100% pasture fed, yearling beef with exceptional eating quality.

Produced seasonally and generally available during late Spring and early Summer when our animals are finished on the abundant, lush pasture that is naturally available at this time

Processed by a local abattoir and butcher, dry aged for approximately 21 days. Dry ageing allows moisture to escape, the meat to shrink, flavour to concentrate and the beef to soften.

Only processed once orders for a whole animal are received, guaranteeing fresh produce.

Our yearling beef is available in bulk as ½ side, whole side or whole animal at a flat rate per kilogram based upon the hanging carcass weight, including bone and trim.

Our Farm Practices and Accreditations

Our farm is directly managed by ourselves, meaning we have complete control of all farm practices. This includes sustainable property management and best practice, ethical cattle handling.

We are fully accredited under the Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) program.

LPA is Australia’s on-farm food safety certification program for the red meat industry. It meets the stringent requirements of our domestic and export markets, providing an assurance of the safety of red meat. On farm audits are conducted to ensure farm management is in compliance with LPA Rules and Standards for:

  • Property risk assessment
  • Safe and responsible animal treatment
  • Fodder and crop treatments
  • Preparation for dispatch of livestock
  • Livestock transactions

We are registered as a Meat Standards Australia (MSA) beef producer.

As a MSA registered beef producer, best practice cattle handling, transport and management practices are implemented. All of these processes have resultant impact on meat eating quality.
